Followers Demand Custody of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who breached a barricade and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a promenade flanked by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though official papers indicated that he was scheduled to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
History of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account includes clips of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last December.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Past Trauma
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had congregated in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be released on the 21st of November, is the second of a dual adaptation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely bond between two very different sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 Academy Award nods, securing two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
