Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international break, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a range of special visitors.
For the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.
Football and Parenting Life
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a player.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football team," he added.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
It suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.
The Hammers' sole on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.
So, what exactly do I predict here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season started, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.
My son told me to get Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.
They have have lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.
The away side's display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of October.
But I am not do that. Rather, I really need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a poor streak... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
