Former Australian Cricket Star Damien Martyn Hospitalized and in Induced Coma After Bacterial Meningitis Diagnosed.
The ex-Aussie cricket star Damien Martyn has been admitted to hospital and placed in an induced coma following a diagnosis of meningitis.
Serious Condition Disclosed
The 54-year-old “is in for the fight of his life”, as stated by former AFL player Brad Hardie, who revealed Martyn’s condition on Tuesday.
“Let’s hope he can recover because it’s extremely grave,” Hardie said.
His condition remains serious after becoming unwell on Boxing Day and being taken to a hospital in Queensland, as per sources close to the family.

The condition meningitis involves inflammation of the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord.
A Stellar Cricket Career
Widely regarded as one of Australia’s most talented batters, playing 67 Tests and scoring 4,406 Test runs for an average of 46.37 between 1992 and 2006.
The right-hand batter’s not out 88 in the 2003 World Cup final – played with a fractured finger – was instrumental in Australia's win over India.
He announced a shock retirement during the 2005-06 Ashes series in England following difficulties in the opening two Tests.
