Paceman Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Worries.

'Significant concern' for the touring side after Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.

The English seamer added to the fitness woes of the England squad when he left the ground early on day two of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

Atkinson pulled up with his left hamstring post-delivery in his spell during the morning session.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old had experienced "tightness" and required time off the field in order to be assessed "during the day".

The series decider in this Ashes battle at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have previously lost key quicks Mark Wood due to knee trouble and another paceman because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming during the first two matches, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was dropped for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman being one of only three teammates to reach double figures.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he returned the next day and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Yet, at the end of the fifth over, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and promptly felt for his hamstring.

Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match after being left out the Adelaide game.
