The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Performer for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.
Netflix announced this week that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Bon Clay. Bon Clay can use their power to transform into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will play a interpretation of that figure reimagined as non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the live-action series, differing from the original manga and anime.
The new cast member is joined by several other fresh additions tasked with bringing the group to the screen, featuring head Mr. 0, played by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the cast as the monarch of Alabasta.
Even though this character is a major member of Baroque Works, the persona will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Given the second season set to cover the Little Garden storyline, this represents a major departure in the placement of their first appearance, one that could suggest further changes to the story’s structure.
Their mix of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.
The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its second season on March 10, 2026.
